In Rockin' Room 3 these past 5 weeks we have been working on our swimming strokes. We assessed ourselves at the beginning of the unit to find out where we are at and what we need to improve on. We will be assessing ourselves again in Week 7 after swimming is finished!
This is the criteria we used: LEVEL TWO I can kick on my front with my arms in the torpedo position. (Straight arms above my head, one hand on top of the other, ears between my arms.) I can do basic freestyle action with my eyes looking at the bottom of the pool and kick my legs. I can kick on my back with my arms by my side and then stand. LEVEL THREE I can turn my head sideways to breathe without lifting my head out of the water while doing freestyle for 15 min I can swim 15m backstroke. I can do the butterfly kick. I can do the breaststroke arm and leg action without breathing. I can scull for 15m. LEVEL FOUR I can swim 25m of freestyle with breathing. I can swim 25m of backstroke. I can swim 25m breaststroke and kick with my feet turned out. I can swim 15m survival backstroke I can do the butterfly kick and arm action without breathing. LEVEL FIVE I can swim 50m of freestyle. I can swim 50m of backstroke. I can swim 50m of breaststroke. I can swim 25m of butterfly. I can swim a 100m individual medley (one length backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle in that order.) |
